Undergraduate Costs

Regardless of your circumstance, at UChicago we are committed to making your education in the College affordable for your family. We continue to make strides in University financial aid initiatives in response to our students' needs. We welcome inquiries from both families who would like more information about financial aid and students interested in making the best use of their aid packages.

For students living off-campus, the Food & Housing estimate included in the cost of attendance is intended to go towards off-campus housing costs (rent, utilities, food, internet access, etc.). Room and board charges are no longer billed to the University. After tuition and fees are paid, any remaining financial aid will be refunded to the student for use in paying their off-campus housing costs.

Additional Costs

Students in need of funds to purchase a computer can submit a one-time budget increase request. If approved, the student may be able to borrow funds in the form of a loan for the purchase. To submit this request, please e-mail the Office of Financial Aid at college-aid@uchicago.edu and include documentation of the cost of the computer.
