2018-19 Aid Application Guidelines

The preferred method of sending documents to the Office of College Aid is via fax to 773-834-4300. However, you may also mail documents to the Office of College Aid at 1115 E. 58th Street, Chicago, IL 60637. Please use the University of Chicago school codes on all application materials submitted online (FAFSA: 001774; CSS Profile: 1832).

When you send materials by mail or by fax, please download and include the required document cover sheet. Remember to include the student’s first and last name, email address, and date of birth on the top of the first page of any document you submit.

All Need-Based Aid

Forms needed for rising 2nd, 3rd & 4th year students:

*If you were accepted to the University of Chicago prior to the 2015-16 academic year you must complete the CSS Profile. In addition, if your parents are divorced, separated, or were never married, your non-custodial parent must complete the Non-Custodial Parent (NCP) Profile on the College Board website. If your family submitted an appeal to have this requirement waived and your appeal was approved by the Office of College Aid, your family is not required to complete the NCP Profile.

Federal Financial Aid

You want to renew federal funds only, like the Stafford or Perkins Loan programs. You should also follow these directions if your family needs to borrow a Federal Direct Loan Parent PLUS Loan.

Forms Needed:

Merit-Based Aid

Your merit-based aid will automatically be awarded. You do not need to submit any documentation. If you wish to be considered for need-based aid, please visit that section above. 


To renew your Questbridge scholarship, please follow the directions below.

International Financial Aid

Your international financial aid award will be automatically renewed.

Federal Direct PLUS Loan Only

You did not apply for financial aid but your family wants to borrow using the Federal Direct PLUS Loan.

Summer Financial Aid Application Process

To determine eligibility for available Summer financial aid:

  • Complete the Summer Scholarship and Federal Work-Study Application
  • Students must complete their FAFSA (2018-19), a continuing student Financial Aid Worksheet and submit parent's 2016 federal tax forms and W-2's.
  • Application and materials are due before the end of the Winter quarter.
  • The summer scholarship will not count as a 13th quarter of aid.
